"Muuido Island lies only 500 m south of Yeongjongdo Island, where Incheon International Airport is located. 

The island has preserved its pristine natural environment. Wide mud flats, as well as the shores of Hanagae Beach and Silmi Beach stretch around the island. 

Although close to the capital region, the Muuido Island has successfully maintained its beautiful natural scenery. 

The name “Muuido” is said to come from how the island looked to fishermen passing by on foggy days. 

Some saw the shape of a general riding a horse, while others saw the graceful movement of a dance. 

Muuido Island is generally long from north to south, with its width east-to-west about half its length north-to-south, giving the island a shape resembling the Chinese character 目. 

Horyonggoksan Mountain and Guksabong Peak stand along the island’s north and south areas. 

Though not very high, the mountains are covered with dense forests and a wide variety of trees.
