Painting of Guardian Deities of Yonggungsa Temple
"Yonggungsa Temple Painting of Guardian Deities was created by Buddhist monk painters active in Seoul and Gyeonggi during the modern period. Hyegwadang Bonggam led the work as the head monk painter, with Hangokdang Donbeop serving as the assisting monk painter.
The painting is significant for its unusual offerings, which are rarely found in predating Buddhist iconography. It also shows the development of guardian deity paintings in Seoul and Gyeonggi from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries, along with the relationships among the monk painters of the period. As the painting retains its original form from the time of creation, it is considered to have cultural heritage value worthy of preservation."
