"After crossing the bridge connecting Jamjindo Island and Muuido Island, the trail to Guksabong Peak begins right away.
Guksabong Peak rises 230 m above sea level at the center of Muuido Island. From here, hikers can continue along the mountain ridge to Horyonggoksan Mountain or descend toward Hanagae Beach.
Horyonggoksan Mountain takes its name from an old legend about a tiger and a dragon that once fought there. Though only 244 m high, it is the highest point on Muuido Island.
As the trail rises and falls, the sea opens out below. Across the West Sea, scattered islands and the horizon drift in and out of the sea mist.
Visitors who want to climb only Horyonggoksan Mountain can begin near Hanagae Recreation Area.
The mountain is covered with dense forests of pine, Korean hornbeam, and oak, with various rare plants along the trail.
Along the way, hikers can see unusual rock formations such as Horangbawi Rock and Bucheobawi Rock, as well as wide views of the West Sea and nearby islands.
Descending from the summit toward Hanagae Recreation Area leads to the Fantasy Trail, a forest path above the beach where the dazzling sea spreads out below."
